Girl Scout Award Ceremony
Members of the community are invited to join Rockville Centre’s Girl Scouts in congratulating their friends and neighbors as they receive their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards on June 19 at 1 p.m. for a 45-minute presentation at St Mark’s United Methodist Church, 200 Hempstead Ave. A dessert reception will follow.
Gala to honor outgoing Rabbi Schwartz
On June 22 at 6 p.m., Temple B'nai Sholom,100 Hempstead Ave. will host a gala evening to honor Rabbi Dr. Barry Dov Schwartz and his wife, Sonia. The event will feature musical entertainment, as well as tributes by community leaders to mark his retirement after 37 years of distinguished service to the congregation of Temple B'nai Sholom and the Rockville Centre community. Disney World Dance Preview
Leggz Ltd. Dance will present its upcoming 2010 Disney review for Rockville Centre audiences at the Recreation Center’s auditorium on June 23 at 4:30 p.m., before they bring the cast and show to Florida. Leggz dancers will also be performing -—when they return -— at the RVC Fireworks Celebration on July 10.
Sponsor-a Senior fundraiser
The SSHS PTA Post Prom Committee is hosting its annual Sponsor-a-Senior fundraising event. All monies raised will be awarded to seniors attending the substance-free post-prom party to be held on June 24h at Dave and Buster’s Arcade in Farmingdale directly after the prom, from 11:30pm to 3am. Seniors must be present to win, and the SSHS PTA ensures that every senior is sponsored. They are asking for contributions to help keep our kids safe on prom night. All tax-deductible donations can be made payable to “SSHS PTA” and mailed to Cathy Mara, 85 Andover Road, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.
Street Fair and Car Show
The Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce is again sponsoring the Street Fair and Car Show on North Village Avenue south of Sunrise Highway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 27.
