Primarily self-taught, he has capitalized on local workshops, seminars and clubs including the Long Island Photography Meet-up and the School of Visual Arts in New York City to hone his craft. Not limiting himself to one particular style, Scherer explores all types of subjects from nature and landscapes, to fine art and portraiture. Scherer’s second exhibit at the library, this consists of fine art flower photography. With close perspectives, unique cropping and a limited area of focus, these unconventional floral portraits offer an almost painterly quality.
