The Barry and Florence Friedberg JCC in Oceanside continues to expand its programming serving those battling Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers.

On May 12, the Friedberg JCC launched a new virtual fitness program that combines strength training, yoga, boxing and most of all, fun. The program’s first session will run for eight weeks and is a new addition to a wide variety of programs offered by the facility that are geared toward the Parkinson’s population.

In addition to Tai Chi, boxing, music therapy programs, support groups, webinars and presentations featuring world renowned medical experts in the field of Parkinson’s, the Friedberg JCC has established itself as the South Shore of Long Island’s premier hub for wellness and social service needs.

The Friedberg JCC is committed to serving all adults affected by Parkinson’s disease and their families by offering a variety of exercise classes, social programs,  educational webinars and individual and group support with a licensed clinical social worker. Its mission is to support individuals as they navigate their Parkinson’s journey while providing a nurturing environment for families to share information and provide emotional support.

The “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies” program is sponsored by the Goidel Law Group, which supports a number of programs at the JCC geared to special populations.
