Homeless man arrested for burglary

A homeless man was arrested early Friday morning in Elmont on charges of burglary.

Police responded to an alarm at Royal Fried Chicken on Dutch Broadway at 3:21 a.m. and found Thomas King, 52, in the vestibule of the building. According to detectives, King attempted to flee the area and was arrested after a brief struggle. Upon searching King, they found items from Nail Art on Dutch Broadway as well as a laptop bag that was reported stolen from the Carvel on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream on Dec. 26.

King was arraigned on Jan. 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.
