“Community is a very important part of my life,” Allen said. He moved to Long Island to make a better life for his family and settled in East Meadow more than 15 years ago. “What makes a community strong is the organization and the people in it and I wanted to be a part of that,” he said.

East Meadow Kiwanis is the largest Kiwanis club in New York State and is involved with numerous community projects. Two upcoming fundraisers include food basket donations and a Thanksgiving dinner held the weekend before the holiday.

Kiwanis members give away groceries to more than 100 families and provide turkey dinners to 500 seniors at East Meadow High School during these two community events.

Also inducted at the meeting was first vice president Debbie Kirsch, second vice president Jim Smith, treasurer Brian O’Flaherty and secretary Kevin Kamper.
