Rockville Centre student Brett DeVerna, a senior, was recently awarded the 1st Lt. USMC Ronald D. Winchester Award by the Rockville Centre Basketball League.

The award is given to a senior player who best exemplifies the characteristics of Winchester as an outstanding student, athlete, family member and citizen. Winchester was killed in action on Sept. 3, 2004.
