Military ball
The American Legion of Long Beach is hosting its annual military ball at Temple Avodah, at 3050 Oceanside Rd. in Oceanside, on Oct. 8. Cocktail hour starts at 6:30 p.m., ceremony at 7:30 p.m. For information and tickets, call John Radin Sr. at 431-5192 or Ely Altarac at 432-8197.


BBQ and talent show

Doo-wop charity concert
The Nassau South Shore Chapter of the Long Island Board of Realtors invites you to the 2nd annual Doo-Wop Sock Hop charity event at the Sands at Lido, at 710 Lido Blvd. in Lido Beach on Oct. 16. LBMC autumn ball
The Long Beach Medical Center will host its 87th annual autumn ball on Oct. 17 at The Sands, at 1395 Beech St. in Atlantic Beach, starting at 7 p.m. The ball is LBMC’s major fundraising event and offers an elegant evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing. Cub Scout Red Ribbon event
All boys and girls are welcome to the Long Beach Cub Scouts Pack 51 to learn some old fashion streetgames and to help celebrate red ribbon drug awareness week on Oct. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Long Beach Middle School gym. For information call Lee Cornell at 567-6725.
