Lynbrook Owls celebrate homecoming victory

Posted

The unseasonably warm and muggy weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the fans or the players at Lynbrook High School’s annual PTA Scholarship Football Game, as the Owls defeated the Division Blue Dragons by a score of 42-21. Luke Spitzer rushed for 288 yards on nine carries, including four touchdown carries.

Homecoming Queen Gaby Fiore and her royal court were accompanied in style with a parade featuring the High School Marching Band, cheerleaders and kickline. Unfortunately her king, Matt Trotta, who is a member of the Varsity Football team, was not able to be at her side. Before the start of the game, senior cheerleaders, kickline members, football players and their parents were escorted onto the field for recognition. At halftime, the Varsity Cheerleaders, Varsity Kickline and High School Marching Band wowed the crowd with music, precision footwork and acrobatics.

In a longstanding tradition, money from ticket, food and T-shirt sales will go toward scholarships for graduating seniors. The PTA Council greatly appreciates the generosity of the Lynbrook community, especially during these challenging economic times. Anyone still wishing to make a contribution can send a check, payable to Lynbrook PTA Scholarship Fund, to the Lynbrook PTA Council, Central Administration Building, 111 Atlantic Avenue, Lynbrook.
