Third-graders in Arlene Berman’s and Anne Sallustro’s classes at Mandalay Elementary School in Wantagh shared their narrative writing projects with peers and parents during a Personal Narrative Celebration.
For the past few months, students have studied the stages of the writing process. After writing down experiences that were important to them — also known as narrative writing — the stories were published in a bound book and shared with school officials and loved ones. Many of the students wrote about trips to Disneyland or to Lake George, while others wrote about school and family experiences.
“This was a culmination of weeks of work,” Sallustro said. “We are very excited about the students’ writing.”
