The National PTA has recognized Meadow Elementary School as a 2021-23 School of Excellence for building an inclusive and welcoming school community where families contribute to enriching the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. Meadow is one of 242 PTA and school partnerships nation-wide to receive this distinction.

“We are thrilled that Meadow has been named a National PTA School of Excellence,” said Kathryn Lugo, PTA co-president for Meadow. “We look forward to continuing to cultivate strong family, school and community partnerships in the coming school year and beyond,” she said. “We could not be any prouder of Meadow Elementary School PTA for receiving this designation,” added Nana Yaa Yankah, Meadow PTA’s co-president.

National PTA’s School of Excellence program is a year-long commitment to improving family-school partnerships. During the year, the PTA and schools collect feedback from their school communities to create and implement plans of action to make a difference for every child.

Through the School of Excellence program, the PTA and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts. The program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-drive decisions that yield positive, long-term results.

“Congratulations to Meadow Elementary School and their PTA on being recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence,” said Dr. Shari L. Camhi, superintendent of schools, for the district. “Communities are the foundation of our nation’s public school education system. Year after year, our students’ education and overall well-being continue to greatly benefit from the partnership of our schools and Baldwin families. We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our Meadow community for achieving this designation.”

To celebrate their achievements, National PTA will present the Baldwin elementary school with a certificate and National PTA School of Excellence banner. Meadow joins Lenox and Plaza Elementary Schools, who were among those recognized with this distinction in the 2020-2022 school year.

“Family-school partnerships are essential to children’s education and success. And it is more important than ever for families and schools to establish strong partnerships,” said Anna King, president of National PTA. “We are thrilled to honor the accomplishments of Meadow Elementary School and Meadow PTA. Their efforts have and are continuing to make a positive impact for all students, families and their school.”
