A United Parcel Service deliveryman found himself in big trouble on Feb. 24 after police allege he stole merchandise from another UPS truck while its driver was making a delivery in Rockville Centre.

According to police, Bruce A. Coles, a 47-year-old resident of Green Avenue, Hempstead, was off duty but in uniform when he used a key to open the truck his colleague had locked while making the delivery. Police said they were called by UPS security following an internal investigation of Coles.

Detectives said 51 video games worth over $2,100 were found in Coles’ car along with a number of unauthorized music compact discs.

Coles was arrested and charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of counterfeiting and two counts of failing to disclose the origin of a recording.
