Longtime Rockville Centre resident Joan P. “Patsy” Marasco died peacefully on Sept. 21. She was 85 years old.

Marasco and her husband, Ted, lived in Rockville Centre since 1961. She was an active member of St. Agnes Parish as well as a former secretary of the Rockville Centre Boys Basketball League.

Marasco was born in 1929 in Far Rockaway, New York to James and Sarah Chapin. She graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School and went on to Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. Once her children were grown, she worked part-time for the Catholic Press Association.

She married Theodore J. Marasco in 1957. Together, they raised five children — Jane, Paul, Nancy, Peter and Kenny. For more than 48 years, they were members of Malibu Beach Club in Point Lookout. For over 20 years, they travelled to Vero Beach Florida and enjoyed the winter there with their many snowbird friends.

Marasco never complained about anything. She was a loyal patron of the Rockville Centre library and will always be remembered for her beautiful knitting and crocheting.

Hundreds of people came to honor Marasco at her recent wake and Mass of Christian Burial held on Sept. 24 at St. Agnes Cathedral.

Marasco is survived by her five children and their spouses and eight grandchildren.
