Parade-goers remember the fallen heroes

Residents represent at Memorial Day parade

Posted

Residents turned out in force to commemorate Memorial Day and to honor all the servicemen and servicewomen who have died in our nation’s battles. Solemn ceremonies reminded all those who attended of the great debt we owe our country’s heroes.

East Meadowites of all ages emerged from their homes to cheer on those who have served as they waved miniature American flags and dressed in red, white and blue. Among the many marchers were American Legion and Veteran of Foreign War members, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and high school marching bands.

The traditional start of summer was celebrated with barbecues and beach days while also displaying patriotism and respect for local veterans.
