Pilot visits South Side High School ESL students

Posted

ESL students at South Side High School were visited last month by Matthew Villalon, a pilot for Continental Airlines who flies out of Newark Liberty.

Villalon, an American of Chilean descent, is a product of Rockville Centre schools and graduated in 2006 from South Side High School. During his Career Day visit, he spoke to the students about jobs in the aviation industry and his own experiences as a pilot. He also shared his thoughts as a first generation Chilean-American and how knowing a second language has helped in his career.

South Side High School ESL students had many questions for Villalon, and thanked their teacher, Virginia Stamatakis, for arranging the opportunity.
