'Pirates of Penzance' opens at Temple Emanuel

East Meadow community theater puts on four shows

A 24-year tradition of community theater at Temple Emanuel of East Meadow continues this weekend, with the opening of a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Pirates of Penzance.”

A local cast and crew made final preparations for the play this week, as it readied for four performances.
   
Opening night is on Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by a Mother’s Day matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m. The production closes out with two shows next weekend, on Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $18 for adults, $14 for seniors over the age of 62 and $9 for children under 18 years old.
