Breakfast at CJ's Long-time family owned CJ's Coffee Shop, 225 N. Long Beach Road will again host its annual breakfast to benefit the Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Sunday, March 7. The menu is all you can eat for $15 (adults) and children under 10 are free. The proceeds will support the 14th annual parade, scheduled for March 20. In addition to breakfast, patrons will be able to purchase some of the parade’s official merchandise such as T-shirts, hats, bracelets, glasses and car magnets, as well as raffle tickets and Shamrock Steps. “This is one of the highlights of our parade fundraising season” said Parade Committee Co-Chair Sean O’Rourke. “When you mix Irish pride, good company and good food you cannot go wrong.” “The Lawrence family has been hosting this event for several years”, added Co-Chair Ann Marie Myatt. “Their generosity is what makes the parade a success.This fundraiser truly reflects the values that make this ‘The Parade that Cares and Shares’.” Courtesy Joe Puk Breakfast at CJ's Long-time family owned CJ's Coffee Shop, 225 N. Beautiful music Under the musical direction of Scott Jackson Wiley, The South Shore Symphony will perform at South Side Middle School, 67 Hillside Road on March 20 at 8 p.m. The 65-member Symphony Orchestra will present Rossini ’s "Overture to William Tell," Richard Strauss ’s "Till Eulenspiegels Lustige Streiche" Op. 28 and Debussy ’s "La Mer." “Each one of the pieces on the program places great demands on the orchestra; together, they constitute a must-hear concert, a daring tour-de-force. This concert highlights the maturity and artistic strength of the South Shore Symphony,” said Scott Jackson Wiley. “Our community should be intensely proud of being able to support an orchestra of such virtuoso capability.” Organized in1984 and headed by President and Principal Cellist Wayne Lipton and Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, the orchestra has grown to include professional musicians and gifted high school musicians in addition to dedicated amateur players and has become one of the premiere performing ensembles of Long Island. The South Shore Symphony has enjoyed the constant support of Senator Dean Skelos, King Kullen Food Stores, various corporate entities and private individuals and the 400-plus dedicated members of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts. The orchestra has regularly performed in the Cathedral of St.Agnes, South Side High School and Middle School, Rockville Centre’s Mill River Park and last summer, at the Nassau County Museum of Art. Each year the symphony collaborates with Leggz Ltd.Dance and guest professionals in a fully-staged production of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker.” The cost for admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and members of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts. Flower and Garden Show

Dees’ Nursery, 69 Atlantic Ave., Oceanside, will host its First Annual Flower and Garden Show on March 6 and 7. There will be special discounts, free gardening classes and activities for children. Visit www.deesnursery.com for more information.

Interfaith forum

Reserve March 4 at 7.30 p.m. for an evening with local clergy, rabbis, ministers and priests from Rockville Centre, who will conduct an Interfaith Forum to address questions about religion, theology, various Holy Days and current events. The forum will be held at Temple B'nai Sholom, 100 Hempstead Ave. After the program refreshments will be served. All are invited.

Homemakers Club

The Rockville Centre chapter of Homemakers meets every Tuesday at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center on Oceanside Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Winter Exhibit at Phillips House

The Museum of Rockville Centre's winter exhibit at the Phillips House, 28 Hempstead Ave., is American cut glass (from the Brilliant Period of the mid-to-late 1800s), pressed and cranberry glass from the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. Examples of cranberry glass include a rare whale oil lamp cut to clear and an eight-sided French perfume bottle There are several variety of vases, candy dishes and baskets and a unique paneled sugar shaker. These pieces are uniquely displayed with cut crystal bowls, vases and Victorian napkin rings. The museum is open from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment.
