Rockville Centre Crime Watch June 17, 2010

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

William C. Castellano, 38, of Prospect Avenue, East Rockaway, was arrested on June 6 at 10:09 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief and harassment at Champs Sports Bar, 21 S. Park Ave. following an alleged dispute with his girlfriend during which he reportedly intentionally broke the victim’s cell phone when she tried to call police.

Barvins Blanc, 19, of Hicks Street, Amityville was arrested at 1:48 a.m. on June 7 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and an open vehicle traffic law warrant following an investigation at 1000 Hempstead Ave.

Steven Conde, 40 of Parma Road, Island Park, was arrested on June 3 at 1:40 p.m. and charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon by Rockville Centre anti-crime personnel on N. Long Beach Road following a robbery with a knife that took place at Dairy Barn, 2735 Oceanside Road, Oceanside.

Robbery

On June 1 at 9 a.m., a 16-year-old East Rockaway youth reported to police that while he was at Chester Road and S. Park Avenue (on the border of Rockville Centre and East Rockaway) at 2 a.m., two male acquaintances robbed him of his sneakers and $60. The victim told police that doctors at South Nassau Communities Hospital diagnosed him with a broken jaw.

Larceny

At 10:30 p.m. on June 2, a Massapequa woman told police that while she was leaving Dunkin Donuts at 61 N. Village Ave., a man stole the black Koos pocketbook from her shoulder and ran north on N. Village Avenue.

Criminal mischief

On June 1 at 7:55 p.m., a woman from Baldwin told police that while near Seaman and Lakeview avenues, the windshield of her 2003 Honda was damaged by her child’s father.

On June 1 at 11:45 a.m., a N. Long Beach Road resident reported to police that on May 31, between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., someone damaged a lamp post at her home.

On June 6, a Lincoln Avenue business owner told police that someone damaged a flower pot in front of his shop.

On June 4, a Farmingdale resident told police that someone from Hollis, Queens damaged the telephone at his business which is located at 486 Merrick Road.

Fire

On June 5 at 1:30 a.m., police responded to a reported automobile fire at Meehan Lane and N. Centre Avenue that was extinguished by the Rockville Centre Fire Department.
