Bail reduced for Susan Williams

Former Rockville Centre resident Susan Williams, 43, who is accused of hiring a hit man to kill her estranged husband, Peter Williams, had her bail reduced to $1 million bond or cash by a Brooklyn Appellate court on May 12.

Williams was originally arrested in early March on conspiracy and solicitation charges after allegedly offering $20,000 to an undercover Nassau County police officer posing as a hit man. Authorities said they had her on video surveillance giving the officer a $500 deposit for the murder.

In early May a grand jury indicted her on two additional charges — a felony count of criminal possession of a forged instrument and a misdemeanor charge of criminal solicitation — after prosecutors said she forged her husband’s signature on a life insurance policy to make herself the owner.

At that time Judge Norman St. George raised her bail to $2 million in bond or $1 million in cash and Williams was headed back to jail. Williams has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in prison. She is due back in court on May 25.
