People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Fire

On May 11, police personnel responded to an electrical fire in the basement of 27 Aldred Ave. The house was evacuated and the fire was extinguished by the Rockville Centre Fire Department.

Larcenies

On May 15, a Greenway resident reported that a necklace valued at $5,000 was stolen from her bedroom between March 21 and April 5. The victim told police that she believes workers at the house may have taken it from the last place she saw it — on a bedroom dresser.

An Oceanside resident told police on May 15 at 2:50 p.m. that his cell phone and IPod were stolen between 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. the previous day while he was at the Recreation Center.

On May 14 a Westbury resident reported to police that at 11 a.m. she saw two men remove and steal the catalytic converter to her 1990 Toyota 4Runner while it was parked at LA Z Boy, 150 Sunrise Highway.

Unusual incident

On May 11, a Wright Road resident reported finding small pieces of paper in the vicinity of N. Village Avenue and Wright Road with the words “Kill Jews” written in black marker. Detectives from the Rockville Centre Police Department and Nassau County First Squad are investigating.

Assault

On May 13, a resident of Georgia Street, South Hempstead reported having a fight with an acquaintance on a South Side High School bus that resulted in pain and swelling to his left eye requiring medical attention. South Side High School personnel were present at the scene of the investigation. The victim refused to press charges.

Investigation

On May 10, a complainant from 1 College Place reported to police that she found a threat against South Side Middle School teachers on Facebook. The principal of South Side Middle School was notified and the Rockville Centre Police Department is investigating.

Lost property

On May 16, a resident of Woodmere told police that she left a purse containing a Samsung cell phone and a Sony camera in a Harlem Car Service cab between 1 and 2 a.m. near the Long Island Rail Road station on Front Street.
