RVC ready to eat, shop and rock

Hundreds of foodies, shoppers and music enthusiasts are expected to line South Park Avenue on June 3 for the fourth annual EAT.SHOP.ROCK festival.

Last year, people from all over came out to walk up and down the street and sample food from restaurants, browse goods from stores and see what other businesses in the village had to offer. More than 80 village businesses participated — the most ever.

Park Avenue, from Sunrise Highway south to Lincoln Avenue, will be closed from noon to just after 7 p.m. for the fair. Patrons will be able to dine on the sidewalks of their favorite restaurants and shop at booths set up by many of their favorite stores in town.

There will be plenty of activities for patrons young and old. Bouncy houses, a Velcro wall and snacks will be provided by The Vineyard Church, and sports fans can try out the bowling lane donated by Maple Lanes RVC. There will also be live performances by Making MemorEase and Miss Colleen’s Elite Dancentre.

Entrance to the fair is free, but the chamber will be selling VIP tickets for $125 each. Purchasers will get a gift bag with coupons to EAT.SHOP.ROCK vendors, access to a private VIP area, a pair of official EAT.SHOP.ROCK sunglasses, discounts at Jeannine’s Boutique, free raffle tickets and free drinks at many of the participating restaurants, like Parlay Gastropub, Press 195, The Darkhorse Tavern and Cabo.

The VIP ticket can be purchased at www.EATSHOPROCKrvc.COM.

ESR is also a fundraiser, and last year was also great in that regard. Chamber of Commerce President Greg Schaefer said about $3,000 was raised for scholarships the chamber awards and at least another $2,000 was put towards the construction of a handicap-accessible playground at Hickey Field on Sunrise Highway.
