Scouts from Merrick Troop 225 enjoy a great week at Summer Camp

Posted

After a very successful week at Summer Camp, Merrick Boy Scout Troop 225 is ready for another year of exciting Scouting activities. While camping at Baiting Hollow Scout Reservation in Wading River, 18 Scouts from the Troop paddled, swam, climbed, hiked, cooked, and earned more than 150 merit badges. One of the more mentally demanding badges, Chess, was earned by 5 Scouts during classes that started at 7am, even before breakfast. A great time was had by all, and they even got to see some very special First Aid techniques as well.

Just as the school year kicks off now, so does the Scouting Year. We have just planned the next 12 months of exciting trips, activities and meetings. Boys that are looking to have fun, enjoy more of the outdoors, and strive to reach Scouting's highest honor, Eagle Scout, are encouraged to join one of Merrick's oldest and most successful Troops--Troop 225. Meetings are held on Mondays at Birch School, and camping trips and special events are held each month. If you are 11 years old, or have completed 5th grade, you can become a Boy Scout. To join, come down to our Open House on Monday, September 24 at 8pm, in the Birch School Auditorium. Come down with your parents and see why we think Scouting is so cool. If you can't make it, can't wait, or need more information, please call Assistant Scoutmaster Jerry Foster at 546-4375 or email JerryLFoster@live.com.
