Seaford graciously gives back to its own

The community of Seaford continues to support and show appreciation to their own. This time, the neighbors of the south shore hamlet have banded together to chip in and buy gift certificates for those on the front lines battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Seaford Chamber of Commerce member and Seaford High School Life Skills program job coach Donna Jebaily has organized the collection, and responses have been coming in from grateful recipients via one of the town’s Facebook groups, that hosts nearly 4,000 members. According to DataUSA, there are approximately 15,405 residents in Seaford, meaning that this group accounts for slightly less than a third of the total population.

There were 12 gift certificates given out to medical workers, first responders and grocery store workers. Jebaily said that the community decided to buy gift cards from local eateries, including Guac Shop, Dang! BBQ, Rosario’s, Tarallo and Bayview Tavern. The decision was made to reward the recipients for their hard work while also stimulating local business stability.

“I am so proud to be a part of the Seaford community,” wrote Tara James-Valentin. “To be recognized for what I do is not something I would expect. Today I received a gift card from the community for my work as a nurse at St Francis Hospital. I am humbled!”

Adam Joseph Drucker, 27, a physician’s assistant from Seaford, also received a gift certificate. “I would like to thank the Seaford community for the gift certificate today. It was a nice surprise when I got home from work today. I am a PA at a primary care office testing every day for COVID. I hope everyone stays safe and together we will get through this,” Drucker said.
