South High School quiz team takes third in Long Island contest

The members of South High School’s Junior Varsity Quiz Bowl team answered their way to a third-place finish in Long Island’s Regional Quiz Bowl finals on April 3.

The competition is the culmination of the interscholastic academic league, and features questions answered by buzzer. The South team was undefeated in the preliminary rounds and advanced to the semifinalist level. Its members are Olivia Ryan, the team captain, Harrison Dickler, Alyssa Eyssalenne, Jacob Ebert and Joseph Campbell. Ross Lipsky is the team’s adviser.

“Our aim is to build teamwork, motivation, curiosity and love for learning among our participants, from their freshman year all the way through to graduation,” said the organization’s website.
