The Nassau County Sportsmanship Awards Committee recognized South Side High School as one of the Top Ten high schools that promoted and displayed excellent sportsmanship at Nassau County varsity sporting events in 2009-2010.

According to Athletic Director Carol Roseto, Lawrence, Massapequa, and MacArthur high schools were the top three with East Meadow, Herricks, Mepham, Mineola, New Hyde Park, South Side and Uniondale finishing out the top ten.

“This is the first time since the inception of this award in 2000 that South Side teams have made the top ten,” Roseto said at a recent school board meeting.

“I am very proud not only of last year’s varsity coaches and athletes, but of all of the coaches who have played a role in reinforcing positive behavior in their athletes from the middle school level through varsity,” she added.
