The promise of unconditional love

An Easter Message from Rev. Stephan Hurkens

God promised us “unconditional love.”

Romans 8;35, 37 says “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

This surreal Love of Christ needs to be accepted by faith. Society certainly does not portray love or acceptance. Love by others is conditional. But by faith we accept and enjoy this unconditional love of Christ and we spread it around.

Scripture further tells us in 1 John 4:10: This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. NIV.”

Abraham became a spiritual giant because he claimed the precious promises of God and moved ahead in faith believing that God was trustworthy and kept His promises. Have you ever wondered why Abraham was such a well-known man? It is because of his faith. We lack the faith to grasp the promises of God and take His word at face value and move forward depending on God to do what He has promised.

God’s promised love has been revealed in the death of Christ on the cross for us. There are no limits placed on the divine love. God loves us so much and is waiting for those who have not yet accepted His gift of unconditional love.

I pray that you will feel the father’s love during this Easter season like never before. Let Him wrap His loving arms around you and minister to your needs.

I leave you with this Scripture: So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. NIV Ephesians 3:17-19.
