Two arrested in Elmont after unlawful items found during probation check

Two men were arrested in Elmont on July 13 after Nassau County law enforcement officers found unlawful items inside their Elmont residence during a probation check of the house. 

According to Nassau County police, fifth precinct police officers were assisting members of the Nassau County Probation Department during a night watch probation check at an Elmont house located at 736 Meacham Avenue when probation officers recovered a loaded Glock 43X handgun, a fraudulent Texas driver’s license, a fraudulent United States of America passport and a fraudulent HSBC credit card.  

Following the discovery of these items, Marvens Chery, 23, of 736 Meacham Avenue in Elmont, and Daniel J. Depeine, 24, of 2712 NW 200 Ter, Miami Gardens, Florida, were both arrested by Nassau County police. 

Chery was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree, third-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and third-degree unlawful possession of personal ID. 

Depeine was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, second-, third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon 

Both Chery and Depeine were arraigned on July 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
