Valley Stream 24 honors board members at meeting

In honor of School Board Recognition Week from October 17 to October 21, Valley Stream 24 recognized its Board of Education trustees — Cynthia Nuñez, Kimberly Wheeler, Armando Hernandez, Melissa Herrera, Markus Wilson as well President John Maier and Vice President Donna LaRocco — at their board meeting on October 19.

Two students from each of the Valley Stream 24 schools represented their school building as they delivered a heartfelt speech filled with gratitude toward the board members. After the recognition ceremony, family, friends, staff, and administrators gathered to enjoy refreshments.

“School Board Recognition Week is a fantastic opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of the vital work that is performed by our board members,” said Valley Stream 24 superintendent Don Sturz. “It takes dedicated individuals who selflessly devote untold hours of time in service to the students and families of our district to ensure the quality education the children of our Valley Stream community deserve. Each member of our Board of Education exemplifies such an individual. We are fortunate to have such outstanding men and women on our board.”
