Nassau County Police are investigating the death of a Wantagh man, who was involved in a one-car crash in Levittown early Sunday morning.

According to police, 24-year-old Eklind Veizas was driving his 2005 Toyota northbound on Wantagh Avenue near Grey Lane on March 15 at 3:40 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, a sign and a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Veizas is a 2008 graduate of Wantagh High School, and was working in construction, according to his LinkedIn page.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of one of our graduates over the weekend,” said schools Superintendent Maureen Goldberg. “The Wantagh Board of Education and administration extend their deepest condolences to Eklind’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks, and the investigation is continuing.
