A 22-year-old woman had the scare of her life early this morning as the car she was in was hijacked — at gunpoint — from the parking lot of Taco Bell, 570 Sunrise Highway at 2:18 a.m.

According to detectives, a black man in his late 20s, with scruffy facial hair wearing a blue button up shirt, got into the front seat of the Jeep. Once inside, police said he pointed a handgun at the woman, who was alone in the car. Police said she was able to get out before the suspect drove off with her car.

Officers from Rockville Centre and Nassau County’s First Precinct spotted the jeep and followed it to Roosevelt where the driver lost control and crashed it onto the front lawn of the house at 229 Hudson Ave. Detectives said he then jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The victim was not injured.
