The Healthcare Education Project hosted its inaugural Frontline Fest at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale on Oct. 10, bringing together health care workers, community organizations and Long Islanders for a free festival focused on health care awareness and civic engagement.
The event combined live music, sports and family-friendly activities with educational resources to help attendees better understand health care policies and access to services.
More than 50 community organizations and health care institutions participated, including the Hispanic Federation, Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, Mental Health Association of Nassau County and NYU Langone Health.
Activities included basketball, football challenges, yoga, children’s entertainment, and live musical performances. A food truck village also offered free meals.
The festival highlighted concerns about health care affordability, Medicaid coverage, and access to medical services. Through its Keep Your Care initiative, organizers provide information about health care coverage and resources.
Attendees also had opportunities to register to vote, check their registration status and learn about civic participation ahead of the November midterm elections.
