The Kiwanis Club of Uniondale, Viper Collision and the Joey Foundation teamed up to help Uniondale students start the new school year prepared with a school supply giveaway on Aug. 15 at Front Street Mufflers, Tires & Auto of Uniondale, 1201 Front St.

Families stopped by to pick up an assortment of school supplies, including backpacks, book covers and colorful pencil cases featuring unicorn and dinosaur designs.

Reinaldo Richard, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Uniondale, and Amelia Montenegro, owner of Front Street Mufflers, Tires & Auto of Uniondale, also prepared refreshments for families attending the event.

Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks stopped by the giveaway as organizers distributed supplies to children and families preparing for the return to the classroom.

The partnership aimed to ease some of the back-to-school preparation for local families while helping ensure students have supplies ready for the new school year.
