E-scooter rider injured in Wantagh crash with SUV

A 28-year-old man was injured Friday evening after the e-scooter he was riding collided with an SUV at a Wantagh intersection, according to Nassau County police.

The incident occurred at 8:06 p.m. on April 24 at the intersection of Briard Street and Homestead Avenue. Police said the man was traveling southbound on Briard Street when he struck the passenger-side door of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee.

Authorities said the Jeep, operated by a 42-year-old man, was in the process of making a left turn onto Homestead Avenue at the time of the collision.

The e-scooter operator sustained an arm injury and multiple facial lacerations. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
