Fifth grade students shine light on Civil Rights heroes

Posted

Students in Eileen Vogel’s fifth grade class at Lee Road Elementary School, which is in the Levittown School District and includes Wantagh and Seaford students, recently explored influential civil rights leaders in honor of Black History Month.

Each student conducted research on one of these prominent leaders such as Ruby Bridges, Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson. They then created a biography presentation on Google Slides where they provided photos and details about their individual’s early life and the impact they made during the Civil Rights movement.

The students shared their engaging presentations with the class. The project allowed the fifth graders to practice their public speaking and technology skills while also expanding their knowledge of Black history.
