Icebreakers honored for excellence

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano honored members of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Robotics Team for their accomplishments this year.

The all-girl robotics team won an award at all six competitions that they completed in this year.  The team known as “Icebreakers 4183” recently traveled to St. Louis to compete in the World Championship.  Although they didn’t win, the team competed against 127 of the top teams in the world. 

The team of nine girls is directed by Coaches Diane and Steve Kitchener. The team is comprised of high school students including five high school seniors; Caeley Looney of Merrick, Brianna Kitchener of Merrick, Danielle Abrahams of Merrick, Samantha Adelberg of Merrick, and Sandi Peters of North Bellmore. The four sophomores on the team are Lauren and Katharine Conroy of Merrick, Natalie Bloniarz of Wantagh and Dessie DiMino of Garden City.
