Students at Northside Elementary School in the Levittown School District explored a range of careers during the school’s annual Career Day on April 17.
Students met professionals from a variety of fields, including firefighters, emergency responders and sanitation workers, with a firetruck, ambulance and sanitation truck on display outside the building. Volunteers from the Levittown Fire Department demonstrated their equipment and spoke about their work, while News12 meteorologist Rich Hoffman described how he prepares for live television reports.
Inside the school, students heard from professionals representing a range of careers, including an attorney, physical therapist and bus mechanic, who spoke about their day-to-day responsibilities and career paths. The Nassau County Police Department’s K-9 Unit gave a demonstration, and students also participated in a lesson led by martial artists.
The annual event is designed to expose students to a wide variety of professions and help them begin thinking about future opportunities.
