Wantagh votes on school bonds

On Dec. 6, residents of Wantagh headed to the polls to make their decisions on a $69.5 million bond proposal. The bond was broken into three separate propositions, all of which included renovations on the schools. This work would include replacing  windows and unit ventilators, upgrading athletic fields at the secondary campus and Forest Lake Elementary School, new playground equipment for the three elementary schools and renovating the library media center and cafeteria at Wantagh's High School.

Voting took place between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. at Forest Lake, Mandalay, and Wantagh Elementary Schools. Two of the propositions passed, while one failed. The results are as follows:

Proposition No. 1 Passes: 1,303 yes, 827 no  

Proposition No. 2 Fails: 993 yes, 1,139 no  

Proposition No. 3 Passes: 1,156 yes, 976 no
