Wantagh Public Library will celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary next month with a summer concert series that showcases the sounds of America, from Motown and classic rock to country, folk and the Jersey Shore.

The library's annual Music Monday Summer Concert Series returns July 6 and runs through Aug. 31, with nine free outdoor performances highlighting the artists and genres that have helped define American music. Concerts will be held Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the library parking lot.

This year's lineup is themed around America250, the nationwide celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

"This year's series is especially exciting as we celebrate America250 and build on the incredible momentum of the past five years," said James Hartmann, the library's head of adult programs and services. "Each summer, these concerts bring the Wantagh community together through the music we all love — from rock and soul to country and folk. It's been amazing to see this series grow year after year, and in 2026 our stage is jam packed with our biggest and best lineup yet."

The season opens July 6 with Boardwalk Nights, performing the music of Bruce Springsteen and the Jersey Shore sound. The following week, Sugar and Spice Soul Band will bring Motown, soul and disco favorites to the stage.

Country music fans can enjoy County Line on July 20, featuring a mix of contemporary country, southern rock and classic hits. Victims of Rock follows on July 27 with party rock favorites from the 1970s, '80s and beyond.

August begins with a tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan by The Hambones on Aug. 3. Roses Grove Band takes the stage Aug. 10 with a celebration of Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

Fleetwood Nash performs Aug. 17, featuring the music of Fleetwood Mac and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Drive, a tribute to The Cars, follows on Aug. 24.

The series concludes Aug. 31 with Gotcha Covered, performing classic American hits and iconic duets spanning multiple decades and genres.

The concerts have become a summer tradition for many Wantagh residents, drawing families, neighbors and music lovers for evenings of live entertainment outdoors. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the performances under the summer sky.

The America250 theme reflects the library's effort to recognize not only the nation's history but also the enduring impact of American music on generations of listeners. Each performance spotlights a different genre or artist whose work has become part of the country's cultural identity.

All concerts are free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted on the library's website and calendar. Residents can also learn about additional summer programming and events through the library's programs department.
