Wantagh celebrates Independence Day with a spectacular parade

It was a day to celebrate our nation’s freedom as attendees gathered to witness a patriotic parade.

Wantagh’s annual Independence Day Parade took place on July 4, beginning on Park Avenue and proceeding north on Wantagh Avenue. Attendees dressed in red, white and blue to cheer on the parade as it concluded at Wantagh Elementary School.

Residents watched as children waved American flags and local organizations marched along the route. Highlights included creative floats, notably one with Lady Liberty waving to the crowd.

Judges stationed at the Wantagh Museum evaluated the participants. After the parade, a ceremony was held at Wantagh Elementary School where awards were presented, and Evelyn Caputo was crowned as Miss Wantagh 2024

The evening concluded with fireworks displays throughout the community, including Wantagh Park and Jones Beach State Park, providing a festive end to the day’s events.
