'Gym Bandit' pleads guilty

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that Sean Gluck, a serial purse-snatcher with two prior theft convictions, has pleaded guilty to burglary and grand larceny charges after going on his third crime spree in as many years. Gluck will receive three to six years in prison in exchange for his plea. more

At a news conference last week, Lenny Rosado, left, joined by State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., center, and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, warned would-be drunk drivers that "the party's over" with Leandra's Law now in effect. The law was named for Leandra Rosado, Lenny's daughter, who died in an accident with a drunken driver last summer. Under the new statute, anyone who drives drunk with a child in the vehicle can be charged with a felony.

Leandra's Law takes effect

Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Republican from Merrick, Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, a Democrat from Long Beach, and Lenny Rosado were joined at a news conference last week by state and local officials to remind Long Islanders that Leandra's Law took effect on Friday, making drunken driving with a child a felony offense in New York. more
