Excitement was in the air at Chabad’s 18th annual Lag B’Omer Family Fun Day, held at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park. “Lag B’Omer is a day of family fun, a day of coming together,” said Dr. Ari Weinreb of Woodmere.

Lighting the menorah at Cedarhurst Park

Rabbi Schneur Wolowik of the Chabad of the Greater Five Towns led the lighting of the giant menorah in Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park in Cedarhurst on Dec.8, the first night of Hanukkah. In addition to the menorah lighting there was singing and dancing to the traditional holiday songs.

Boys sorted the heated socks, teenage girls played and colored with younger children, the women cooked food and brought it out to families, men moved generators on dollies, and volunteers readied to go out on another run delivering needed items to distressed community members as snow from a nor’easter fell on Nov. 7.
