Though the unemployment figures from November for the Town of Hempstead, 7.3 percent and Nassau County 6.8 percent are lower than the national average of 9.3 percent for the same month, but tough times have hit the Five Towns as the use of the JCC of the Greater Five Towns Kosher Food Pantry has quadrupled in the past two years.
