“It’s been a Long December, maybe this year will be better than the last,” the car radio is playing a song on my way to Rosh Hashana services. The slow pace of the song seems to match the equally slow pace of the traffic on the way to synagogue. It echoes the sentiment that the summer has gone by and everything will now begin again.

Every time I drive to school, I pass by this building. Normally, I continue on my way, but this big glass structure always catches my eye. It always reflects and blinds me. The top of the building displays numbers, which I can never see. However, on my way home, I can. The numbers are 666, and every time I pass by I laugh. I wonder why they chose those numbers, or if they even knew about “the number of the beast,” the devil.

On March 6 & 7, the Lawrence Woodmere Academy community gathered in Hessel Hall to watch LWA students perform “The Fantasticks,” a show that first opened in 1960 and became the longest running show in history (the professional version will close on May 3).
