The Kennedy High School gymnasium was filled with excitement and transformed into the Kennedy High School Ballroom last Saturday evening when six alumni were inducted into the John F. Kennedy High School Hall of Fame. The induction was the first in 17 years.

To graduate high school in New York, every student must pass a variety of Regents exams. In principle, the exams are a good thing. They ensure that graduates know enough of the basic concepts from each subject to pass a test. In practice, however, the Regents exams show nothing.

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education meeting scheduled for tonight, Nov. 3, has been cancelled. The board was unable to make a quorum in order to hold the meeting. The next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Brookside School in North Merrick at 8 p.m.

At a July 13 public meeting, the Bellmore-Merrick Central Board of Education announced that it would allow only Central District teams to play on its five main football fields, thereby prohibiting youth groups from using the fields for football, soccer, lacrosse and other sports.
