The Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently recognized Deanna Parlagreco, a senior at Wellington C. Mepham High School, with the most prestigious award within the Girl Scouts. Parlagreco received the Girl Scout Gold Award from the organization. Josephine, her mother and a teacher at Mepham, said she and her husband are proud of Deanna’s hard work and also her commitment to helping the community. more
Bellmore-Merrick’s seniors celebrated their high school experiences while looking forward to the future at commencement exercises for Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham on Sunday. For the third straight year, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District held three separate graduation ceremonies at the NYCB Theater in Westbury, and officials said that each school had about 335 graduates. more
Grand Avenue Middle School eighth-graders celebrated two years of study and discussed their futures in high school at their Moving-Up Day. Students said their final goodbyes to Grand Avenue at one of four ceremonies on June 7. Each program featured student speakers and performances by the school choir. more
