By the end of the week, all Gunther Elementary School students will know what school they will attend next September. Though the students will no longer spend their days learning and bonding at Gunther, their legacy will be a permanent one left on the school. Nassau County Police are warning young people to be on the lookout for a white van after three teens were approached in separate incidents by the driver over the past week in the North Merrick-North Bellmore and East Meadow areas. The teens were asked whether they wanted a ride. The teens ran home and informed their parents, who called police. Authorities said the teens did the right thing by running away and letting police know. more
At the close of the workday on June 30, 2012, Gunther Elementary will close its doors to North Bellmore School District children. That was the decision the North Bellmore Board of Education rendered on Dec. 12. It came following the 21-member Committee to Explore Educational Options’ recommendation to close Gunther at the group’s final meeting in November more
