The Bellmore and North Bellmore school districts said goodbye not only to beloved members of the faculty and staff in various buildings this June, but also to administrators who will officially retire on July 1. North Bellmore bid Superintendent Arnold Goldstein and seven other retirees farewell at a June 13 meeting of the Board of Education. District officials also thanked Trustee Rosemarie Corless for more than seven years of service. Corless will not sit on next year’s board, having lost her re-election bid in May. At Bellmore’s board meeting on June 18, Clifford Molinelli, the principal of the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center, and three others were recognized. more
At Calhoun High School’s graduation ceremony last Sunday, there was no principal’s address. David Seinfeld gave up his time to a senior who he said continues to inspire the class of 2013, even though his time at Calhoun is over: Dean Brownworth. Brownworth and the rest of Bellmore-Merrick’s seniors celebrated their high school experiences while looking forward to the future at commencement exercises for Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham on Sunday. more
The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District will not install synthetic-turf athletic fields in 2013-14, Marion Blane, the Board of Education president, said at a June 5 meeting. But synthetic-turf fields are under board consideration for subsequent years, she said. more

Two signs designating Levy-Lakeside School’s front baseball field as Forever 9 Field, which the Merrick-North Merrick Little League hung in April without permission from the Merrick School District, will remain up for the rest of the year, the Merrick Board of Education decided on June 4. The board also ruled that the Little League can apply in 2014 for permission to keep the signs up. more

They are: from Calhoun High School, William Mansmann, valedictorian, and Julianne Ciccone, salutatorian; Kennedy, Eric Fegan, valedictorian, and Jordan Liebman, salutatorian; Mepham, Connor Garet, valedictorian, and Brandon Needelman, salutatorian. more
