An unidentified man smashed through the front door of the Long Island Power Authority building in Bellmore on Monday at 5:15 p.m., according to Nassau County police officials. At press time, the man had not been found. Police are investigating. more

A nor’easter packing heavy rain and winds with gusts up to 50 mph slammed into the Bellmore-Merrick area Saturday into Sunday, downing trees and power lines, and sending local fire departments hurrying to keep up with calls.
