Mepham B-ball star hits the 1,000-point mark

Senior Kristen O’Brien, center, became the second basketball player in Mepham High School history to reach 1,000 career points, doing so against Elmont on Jan. 12. Celebrating her accomplishment were, from left, Assistant Principal Jennifer Carne, assistant coach Janine Bezelia, head coach Jim Mulvey and Principal Michael Harrington. O'Brien recently signed with Division II Adelphi University to play college ball next year.
