The Wellington C. Mepham Pirates were triumphant over Glen Cove at their Homecoming game on Sept. 25, with a score of 63-30.
After a truncated season last year, it was a voracious return for the school and the team. The win leaves them with a score of 3-0 for the season.
Mepham also invited the community for its Piratefest before the game. School clubs were front and center and children’s activities, games and local food vendors were on hand.
Parent volunteers offered snacks at concession stands, and the school’s band, led by Anthony Brandofino, kept the audience moving. The cheerleading squad also got the crowd cheering.
