The nor'easter forecasted for Long Island has struck bringing heavy rain that is causing flooding and high winds resulting in scattered power outages. While East Meadow and Salisbury will not deal with any direct coastal impacts, sporadic power outages are affecting the area, according to PSEG-Long Island's power map.

That realization led Fine, 17, to launch the Financial Freedom Initiative, a student-led effort providing free financial literacy workshops to young people across Nassau County.

For the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Nassau County held a memorial service at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park. The commemorative evening brought together community members, elected officials, first responders, relatives of those who died and other mourners, all renewing the promise to carry forward the memories of those lost and to “Never Forget.”
